What We Offer...
Miramichi Adult Learning offers a CAEC program and a Digital Literacy computer learning program.
Our focus is to be flexible to accommodate the learner by adapting the programs to different situations and lifestyles.
Whether you are full-time, part-time, or unemployed and would like to improve your knowledge, we are here to assist.
What you need to know before you start ...
The CAEC learning program includes five different topics... math, language arts, including reading and writing, science, and social studies. Math covers everything from add, subtract, multiply and divide to basic algebra. Language arts covers punctuation, grammar, and writing a basic essay. Science, and social studies are reading based. For example, after reading a short article on a general science topic, you will answer a multiple choice question.
Once you have passed all subjects, you will have completed the program. The program is free. You do not have to pay to enroll or to write any of the tests.
Financial assistance may be available to you through the provincial department of WorkingNB. For further information, contact WorkingNB toll free at 1-833-998-2659.
The Steps...
Step 1: Chose the Right Learning Option - You have the option to do the program online or in class as a part-time or a full-time student. It is possible to combine the two options.
Step 2: Assess Your Abilities - Anyone who like to join a class must be assessed beforehand. The initial assessment, which evaluates your math, grammar, and reading skills, allows your teacher to determine your starting point within these subjects. With this program, some of your High School credits may count. Also, any GED courses you passed will be applied to the CAEC certificate.
Step 3: Learn at Your Own Pace - The beauty is that you have the chance to learn at your own pace. For instance, if you have more difficulties with math, you can take the time you need to learn the subject matter, with the help of dedicated teachers.
Step 4: Testing - The province of New Brunswick sets several dates for testing. When you feel ready to write any one of the subjects, your teacher can guide you with this process.
